Aumakua (2005)

In the last century, the Hawaiian economy began to embrace tourism. It remains the major employer but is not without its compromises, as many sacred places were disrupted to make way for tourist infrastructure. The Hawaiian people believe in aumakua, ancestral dieties, and mana, an invisible force that flowed from the spirit world to energize everything in the universe. Upon death, the ancestors continue to walk amongst the living.
