Cattedrale

Walking around Venice over four visits in 2004 and 2005, I have been struck by the sense of reserve and secrecy, especially when you get into the quiet back streets and canals of Cannaregio. The houses and palaces have these protective wrought iron grills, very distinctive windows, and you see very little activity in those windows. You, as a tourist, will never be apart of this. The Cattedrales are really about looking out onto the world, even if your daily world is wound together like a little jewelry box.
